Mediobanca brings the CEOs of listed Italian companies together with international investors

The Italian CEO Conference, the event organized by Mediobanca now in its seventh year, which for the second year running is being held online, is taking place today and tomorrow. The conference brings together the CEOs of 52 listed Italian companies with more than 270 institutional investors.

The first day of the conference began with an introductory speech by Alberto Nagel, CEO of Mediobanca, followed by some of the key players in the world of finance and economics: Jörg Kukies, German Deputy Finance Minister, Stefano Del Punta, CFO of Intesa SanPaolo, Matteo Del Fante, CEO of Poste Italiane, and Paolo Bertoluzzo, CEO of Nexi.

A special session on day 1 was devoted to the central banks’ digital currencies, in the form of a round table discussion involving Roberto Catanzaro, Group Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer of Nexi, Silvia Attanasio, Head of Innovation di ABI, and Daniele Savarè, Innovation and Business Solutions Director of SIA. The project being developed by the ECB to build a digital Euro could have a profound impact on both geopolitics and sectors. The debate will focus on the concrete effects for consumers, banks and payment institutions.

Day 2 will concentrate on the Energy, Utilities and Telco sectors, with attention being focused in particular on the green transition issue, because it is in these sectors that the majority of the Italian Recovery and Resilience Facility funds will be invested. Issues for discussion will include the creation of new filières, for example in hydrogen production, but also health, education and infrastructure, to relaunch growth following the economic and social consequences of the pandemic.

The following speakers will take part: Stefano Besseghini (Chairman, Arera), Francesco Starace (CEO, Enel), Claudio Descalzi (CEO, Eni), Marco Alverà (CEO, Snam), Stefano Donnarumma (CEO, Terna) and Luigi Gubitosi (CEO, Telecom Italia).
