Mediobanca strengthens its wealth management division with the addition of Emilio Franco
Emilio Franco will be CEO of Mediobanca SGR, the Group’s new asset management arm
Mediobanca has strengthened its wealth management division with the addition of Emilio Franco, who will join the Group as Chief Executive Officer of Mediobanca SGR (currently Duemme SGR, pending completion of the Banca Esperia group’s merger into Mediobanca), the fund manager tasked with developing and managing investment products for the Mediobanca Group as a whole.
This new structure, once finalized will help unlock value from and develop the existing product factories within the Group, investing in new capabilities and new products.
This development represents a further step in the implementation of one of the key points of the Mediobanca Group’s 2016-19 strategic plan, namely strengthening operations in wealth management, to increase the Group’s fee income-generating capability while absorbing less capital, and at the same time maintaining a prudent approach to risk management and retaining the Group’s outstanding capital ratios.
Emilio Franco joins Mediobanca with more than twenty years’ experience in the asset management sector. He comes to us from UBI Pramerica, where in the space of ten years he has held roles of increasing responsibility, most recently that of Deputy General Manager & Chief Investment Officer, with responsibility for investment strategies but also actively developing products and technologies to support the investment process, and commercial developing business with institutional and private clients. Before UBI Pramerica he worked for Eurizon Capital (San Paolo Asset Management) where once again he held a variety of positions, ranging from manager of Europe and Global equity funds to head of the equity research team, and thereafter of equity fund management and sector analysis. Emilio Franco started his career working for Arca, first as financial analyst and then as fund manager.
