The Mediobanca Research Area, Unioncamere, and the Guglielmo Tagliacarne research area have today presented a report entitled "The competitiveness factors of medium-sized enterprises in southern Italy: the role of 'strategic capital'"
The report compares the data for the MSEs located in Southern Italy with those based in other areas of the country. These companies represent almost 10% of total Italian MSEs, but have increased in number and now total 361 companies, which collectively produce 12.6 percent of the area's total manufacturing value added. In Sicily there are about 40 of them with an aggregate turnover of 1.8 billion euros and a workforce of more than 4,500.
