Education:

Ambrogio Virgilio graduated in Economics and Business from the University of Bari.
He is a chartered accountant and registered auditor.

Career:

Ambrogio Virgilio has acquired significant experience in auditing the financial statements of banks, insurance companies, financial and asset management companies, mutual funds (both securities and real estate), and securities brokerage firms, having been a Partner in the ‘Assurance Practice FSO - Financial Services’ of leading audit firm Ernst & Young for 29 years (from 1989 to 2018). At Ernst & Young he held the roles of Professional Practice Director, Leader of EY’s IFRS Desk for Italy, and Head of the FAAS (Financial Accounting Advisory Services) Service Line.

For EFRAG in Brussels he was a member of the Technical Expert Group (TEG) from 2015 to 2021, and head of the Insurance Accounting Working Group (IAWG) from 2017 to 2021; he also headed up the Assirevi General Technical Commission until 2020. He gave a course on Advanced Auditing in the Faculty of Economics at the University of Turin from the 2010-11 academic year to the 2017-18 academic year.

Since 2021 he has worked with the General Technical Commission of Assirevi, and for the OIC (the Italian accounting organization) is a member of the IAS/IFRS working group.

He has been Standing Auditor and member of the supervisory body of Mediobanca since 2020.
